UNDER THE VOLCANO

In 1938, beneath a stirring Mount Etna, a boy trades his only catch to a drunk the whole town has written off, and is given something that does not convert: a small blue octopus who talks. When he carries an offering up the mountain against the orders on the wall, soldiers take his family, the old man is shot in the road, and the boy rows out to sea with the octopus in a stone pot.
